Baseball to Portland

Building Awareness for MLB to PDX

We partnered with Portland Gear to throw Baseball to Portland, an event featuring six concepts by six local designers showing off what a future MLB team in Portland could look like. Our hope and vision for the event was to bring awareness of the history of baseball in Portland, help create excitement around the possibility of having an MLB team, and to help keep the future of Baseball in Portland strong by supporting Friends of Baseball.

Throughout the show, visitors learned about the past, present, and potential future of Baseball in Portland, watched a few games, enjoyed concessions, drew their own versions of what they thought a future team should look like, and were encouraged to vote on their favorite designs by purchasing limited edition merch.

Proceeds from the event benefited Friends of Baseball, a Portland-based charity organization whose mission is to enhance children’s lives through Baseball’s power to teach.

Six Concepts by Six Portland Designers

We invited six designers / design teams to participate in the event by imagining the name, logo, wordmark, and uniforms for a potential Portland MLB team. The only restrictions given to each of them were that they needed to love Baseball and they needed to be in Portland, OR.

Each designer created a limited edition enamel pin and hat that were hung next to their work along with a description. In the end, hundreds of people showed up to contribute to our cause, raising money for Friends of Baseball and keeping the spark alive that Portland's MLB future is close at hand!
