Ride On PDX
Megabolt formed as a group of creative people who wanted to better kids’ lives through art. Returning for it's second year, Ride On PDX was a skatedeck artshow that donates 100% of its proceeds to art education in the Pacific Northwest. For 2014, we teamed up with Megabolt to design the event and produce this year's signature deck. The show raised over $6,000 for Union High School in Vancouver, Washington for arts education!
Ride On PDX is made out of three parts. The first being the workshop, followed by the art show itself, and then an online raffle to help raise as much money as possible for our cause. We reached out to 23 amazing artists who each received a blank Goldcoast Skateboards longboard and were given a month to turn it into an art piece. Earlier in the year, we facilitated a workshop with an amazing girl named Darian who’s art program at her High School was lacking supplies and support. We were told about her program by her art teacher, Addy, who has been a good friend of ours. We believe in arts education and supporting people with a passion for it.
So, our goal became to raise money for Darian’s school’s art program (Union High School in Vancouver, WA) and to collaborate with her on a skateboard of our own. We took her through a workshop of the various art forms in our studio and used each piece to concept the board with her. We finished the piece and presented it to her at the show.
The art show was a one-night-only event that took place at Sincerely Truman in Portland, OR. We took over their space, set up mobile walls to hang the decks, coffee was provided by Good Coffee, and beer by Hopworks. A handful of great volunteers helped us capture raffle ticket purchases from iPads and iPhones throughout the day and night.

After the show was taken down, we kept the boards online for one more week to keep pushing our goal. The site ran on Big Cartel.
